The Gyre Video Converter optimizes video files to meet YouTube's recommendations for smooth, fast streaming. Explore more in this lesson to optimize your videos.

In previous lessons, we discussed in detail how to add video files to your Storage and how much the quality of your stream depends on video file optimization.

This time, we'll talk about optimizing videos in your personal Gyre account.

You can use the Gyre Video Converter to optimize a video file for YouTube. To do this, click the three dots near the selected file and choose Optimization action in the menu.

In the new window, you will see the future parameters of the optimized video file. You can also choose the necessary frame rate — 30 or 60 fps.

Familiarize yourself with the conditions of video file conversion, tick the box, and click the Start Optimization button.

Please note that video file conversion takes some time. You will see the optimization status next to your file. During this time, other actions on the file will be blocked. After conversion, the new file will be saved in the Storage next to the original video. The name of this video file will begin with the prefix "gyre" followed by the current name of the video clip. In addition, you can immediately select an option in the Video Converter panel to delete the original video after conversion and keep only the optimized video file in the Storage.

We recommend that you delete the non-optimized video to avoid cluttering up your Storage with duplicate files. However, this is entirely at your discretion.

The conversion of video files is measured in Vcoins — an internal currency for Gyre Video Converter that measures the time of video files for conversion in seconds.

1 Vcoin = 60 seconds of video time.

The amount of Vcoins in each plan can vary, but you can always buy more from the Gyre Video Converter tab in the Storage section. Here, you can also view the history of all conversions: filename, preset, creation time, duration, status, and cost in Vcoins.

Using any other video editor, you can also optimize video files to YouTube parameters. However, the files must be converted before being uploaded to the Storage.
